Neusa
de Souza Garcia was born in Urutaí - Goiás
in five of August of 1934, his parents were Francisco
Aprígio de Souza and Maria Capuzzo Souza. She
moved away for Ipameri, neighboring town, to the six
years of age and did her studies, of the primary to
the normal course, in the Educandario e Escola Normal
Nossa Senhora Aparecida, where she graduate in 1954.
After graduation Neusa worked some years as theacher
of the Educandário until she get married with
Manoel Garcia Neto, in 1959.
In
the Educandário Neusa already did works of art
under the coordination of Sister Maria, in 1959 she
moved away for Goiânia, where dedicated herself
barely to the family. In 1980 it began to "joke
with the clay in the hand", as she same says, with
a invitation of Tiana Tomé, when created her
first works.
The first time that her work was shown to the
public was its today known crib, that she created for
itself and that from the beginning of the decade of
eighty passed it to be exhibited in the Christmas period
in the shop window of the Elvira Boutique.
In 1982 her first exposition happened in the
Chafariz of the University Square, in Goiânia.
From this exposition Neusa passed to be recognized in
the State of Goiás and in all the country by
the beauty and importance of her works.
In 26 of July of 2005 Neusa was awarded with
the command of the Order of the Merit Anhanguera, a
deserved homage for this talented woman that began "joking
with the clay in the hands" and today is one of
the most noticeable sculptors of religious art of our
country.
Beyond
talented artist, Neusa is a housewife and mother of
three sons: Manoel Garcia Filho, 45 years old, Civil
Engineer specialized in restoration of historical patrimony;
José Francisco de Souza Garcia, 42 years old,
Medic; and Marcel Garcia de Souza, 39 years old, Civil
Engineer.
